Two things really bothered me this weekend...
1) The Gophers played a very uninspired weekend of hockey....their defenseman looked aweful and Lucia has his work cut out for him trying to get his D-Men to play better. Aside from Fairchild and Ness, the defenseman are slow and cannot handle the puck. Unless they figure out how to either move the puck or stay in better position, the Gophers will not make it past the 1st Round of playoffs.
2) Brian Schack did the right thing... I am appalled at some of the comments that are being posted on the internet about what Schack did to Boe on Friday. People are forgetting about what happened half way through the 2nd period when Tony Lucia was run from behind and took a vicious hit to the head. People are also forgetting that Channing Boe was assessed a 5 minute major and DQ for his hit from behind on Jay Barribal prior to the altercation with Schack. Boe broke his ankle because other players piled on his leg...it wasn't Schack's fault. The Gophers needed to anwser for the dirty hits by the Mavericks, and that is what Schack did. I am not saying that Boe deserved to have his ankle broken, but he needed to answer for his hit and his teamates' prior conduct...and Schack FORCED him to answer for it
